It’s time to wave goodbye to 2019 and say hello to a brand new decade but before we step into 2020 I thought I’d take some time to reflect on my main highlights from the past twelve months.
2019 has felt like a real step forward for me, both in terms of my business and my personal life. The past twelve months have tested me for sure, but I feel as though I am coming out the other side stronger, more confident in my own abilities, more secure in my relationships and focused on the direction I want to move forward in.
It can be easy to feel as though another year has simply come and gone but when you take the time to truly reflect you often realise how much you have managed to achieve in a year and 2019 has definitely been a year for making changes and realising my potential. So what better way to end the year than with a glass of bubbly, a handful of leftover Christmas choccies and looking back over some of the highlights of the past twelve months…
Grew The Co-Working Club Community
One of my goals for 2019 was to develop the casual co-working group I set up with a couple of freelancer friends the previous year into something more and I can safely say that I have achieved that over the past twelve months.
Back in May, I finally decided to give our little group a name, some branding and set up an Instagram account. That’s when The Co-Working Club was born! I started posting regularly about our meet-ups which really helped to gain some traction. The number of people coming along to our Monday meet-ups continued to grow to the point where we are now moving into our own space in 2020 which will provide the opportunity to develop the community even further and hopefully welcome even more members in 2020.
I struggle to put into words just how special and supportive The Co-Working Club is, it’s been such a huge part of 2019 for me and has been absolutely instrumental in changing how I feel about my work. Hearing how important and cherished the community is to our members has completely made my year and made all of the hard work more than worth it!
Went on our dream holiday
This year I managed to tick off a ten year-old dream of mine (spurred on by my obsession with The O.C and The Hills in the early 00’s) by going on an incredible road trip around California.
Back in August, Adam and I packed up our suitcases and flew across to San Francisco to kick start our trip down the West Coast. It was an absolutely amazing ten days visiting San Fran, Monterey, Carmel, Santa Barbara, LA and Yosemite and making memories that we’ll never forget. Alongside all of the incredible scenery we also got to cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge, give surfing a try for the first time and stay in an Airstream in the heart of Yosemite. It was such an amazing trip that we’re already planning when we can head back again!
Launched new projects
I think it’s pretty safe to say that 2019 was the year of launching new projects for me. From kick-starting The Co-Working Club podcast to sharing the co-working memberships, it’s been an amazing feeling to release new projects into the world and receive positive feedback in return.
It’s starting to feel as though I’ve really found my groove with the direction I want to take my business in which has brought with it a whole new sense of motivation and inspiration which I can’t wait to explore further in 2020.
Made our House a Home
This year marked one year of living in our first house and although progress has been a lot slower than I initially had hoped (kitchen and bathroom are both still a hideous baby blue shade) we’ve really started to settle in and make it feel like home.
Instead of big, expensive updates we’ve instead chosen to focus on the little details for now, adding personalised artwork and family photographs that spark memories and bring comfort. It might not be exactly as we’d like but for now there’s no better feeling than cosying up in our little living room, lighting the fire, digging out the blankets and having a good old Netflix binge. Maybe 2020 will be the year to say goodbye to the baby blue?!
Expanded my Network
2019 has truly been the year of expanding my network and meeting the most amazing women who are doing incredible things within their businesses. This year I tried to said yes to all positive opportunities that came my way; events, coffee meetings, podcast recordings. Often this meant putting myself out of my comfort zone but I honestly believe that this is where the best things happen!
I’ve met some of the most amazing people with the most incredible stories and experiences that have inspired me to strive for more within my business. To not simply be comfortable but instead to work towards achieving my dreams even if they feel far-off and unrealistic. I’m excited to deepen some of these relationships and hopefully continue to grow my network and build new connections in 2020.
So what’s next? I’ve got lots of exciting ideas and plans that I can’t wait to roll out in 2020 both in my business and personal life. I’m looking forward to kick-starting a new decade with a fresh bout of inspiration and motivation and hopefully make it the best one yet!
