2018 has been a pretty big year with lots of exciting changes and developments but it definitely hasn’t been without its difficulties either! Join me as I take a look back at some of the highlights from the past twelve months…
We Became Home-Owners
So the biggest development of the past year has got to be buying our very first house which happened back in August, it feels like we moved in both two minutes ago and a
The past five months since moving in have been spent trawling Pinterest, putting our stamp on the house and doing cosmetic updates to our bedroom, office, living room and dining room. In 2019 we’re hoping to get stuck into some of the larger projects that we have on our to-do list including both the kitchen and bathroom which I’m sure are going to be a steep learning curve!
I’m really excited to continue documenting all of the changes we’re making and adding even more personality to our little house in the coming months,
Celebrated One Year in Business
The start of December saw me celebrating one whole year in business which is a milestone I was beyond proud to reach as it’s been a difficult journey packed full of ups and downs.
There have been moments over the past twelve months when I’ve really struggled and wondered whether I made the right decision going it alone but I now feel in a much stronger position compared to where I was this time last year and it’s incredible to look back and see just how much has changed.
I’m going to be writing up a post all about my first twelve months of self-employed life soon as I think it could be really useful to anyone else contemplating making the leap but December was such a busy month I didn’t think I’d be able to do the post justice and I wanted to make it as helpful as possible for any budding freelancers out there.
2018 has definitely been the year of growing and strengthening relationships, both personal and professional. As I now enter my second year of living in Nottingham I definitely feel as though I have begun to develop a community of fellow bloggers, freelancers and local business-owners who I can rely on for advice and support whenever needed.
As well as running and attending a lot more events I’ve also started up a small co-working group who meet up on a weekly basis to share ideas, useful tips and more than anything provide a bit of company for those of us who work from home!
Took Some Much-Needed Time Off
With such a busy year and so much going on it was crucial to take some time off but with a
I also decided to go social media free over the Christmas period which has been so refreshing and given me the time and space to think about my goals for the upcoming year and how I want to develop both my blog and business. It can be difficult to manage your time online when it is both your business and your hobby but I can’t recommend regular social media detoxes enough, I feel like a new woman!
It’s going to be tricky to top 2018 in terms of what we’ve managed to achieve over the past twelve months but I’m hoping things are only going to get better with both renovation plans and more travel hopefully on the cards for 2019. I’ll be posting some of my goals for the upcoming year later on this week so be sure to keep an eye out for them to hear more about what I’ve got up my sleeve!
What are some of your highlights from 2018? I’d love to hear them!
