Holiday Photographs: Elounda, Crete

A couple of weeks ago now I got back from an extremely relaxing holiday in which we spent 11 nights in Elounda, Crete. I had been there before about six years ago so when we were deciding on a holiday destination in which our main requirements were sun and sea I thought that it would be the perfect place!

It has taken me hours to sort through and edit my photographs (hence it taking me so long to get this post up) as there were a heck of a lot of them but I just thought that I would show you some of the highlights!

Over the course of the holiday we:

Did lots of exploring…

Saw A LOT of boats…

Elounda, Crete

Had plenty of beach days…

Visited Agios Nikolaos and had an amazing meal with an incredible view…

Ate out…a lot…

Took a boat trip to the island of Spinalonga which was once a fortress and subsequently used as a leper colony. It is also the setting for the fiction book The Island by Victoria Hislop which is based on a family’s ties to the leper colony, I read it a couple of years ago now and it is one of my favourite books. Having read the novel it made the trip even more interesting as I was aware of more of the history and what life would have been like for the people forced to go and live there. It is an extremely picturesque island with a really interesting history and I definitely recommend taking a visit if you are ever holiday-ing in Crete!

I’ve also put together a little highlights vlog if you would like to have a mooch!
