Quarterly Year Review and Goals for Spring

As the first quarter of the year has drawn to a close I'm reflecting on the season in a quarterly year review

It’s time to wave goodbye to the first 1/4 of 2018 and say hello to the Spring Season!

I’ve seen a couple of these quarterly year reviews floating around on various blogs over the past week so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and get involved as I love any chance for a bit of reflection! If you’re a regular reader then you might have seen that I put together a Goals for 2018 post at the start of the year so this is going to be a bit of an update on how I’m getting on so far as well as looking forward to the much anticipated spring season ahead.

Made Progress with our Savings

Mine and Adam’s main goal for 2018 is to buy a house of our own and so far I’m pretty pleased with our saving progress. In three months we’ve managed to amass more than a third of our target amount, granted this is due to us moving back into Adam’s parents house thus having very minimal outgoings but I’m proud of our progress none-the-less! It means that I can actually start to get excited about the prospect of owning our own home as it’s starting to feel like it’s within our grasp, I mean we even have our first mortgage appointment this weekend. How adult?!

Kept Things Consistent

In terms of blogging, I’ve actually managed to keep posting pretty consistent for probably the first time in my blogs existence. I’ve been spending time planning content in advance and actually utilising my editorial calendar which usually just gets pushed to the back burner. I’ve managed to keep up to date with posting twice a week which is the aim I laid out at the start of the year so I’m feeling pretty chuffed with myself! Moving forward I want to have content scheduled at least two weeks in advance so I’m never rushing to get posts live the day before, like I am doing right now…whoops!

Now that I feel like I’m starting to get a handle on the blog content, moving into quarter two I want to focus on upping my game when it comes to Instagram and YouTube. I want to add a lot more personality to both platforms and incorporating more fashion is hopefully going to be a big part of the changes that are to come!

Put Myself out There More

In terms of freelancing it’s safe to say that there’s been a few ups and downs in this first quarter and at times I’ve wondered whether it would be easier to just pack it all in and go back to having a full time job (I mean it definitely would be easier but I ain’t no quitter). This has been a question that’s been on my mind mainly due to the whole ‘saving for a house’ thing but I’ve tried to keep my head held high despite a few knock backs and push forward.

This has meant I’ve needed to step out of my comfort zone and sell myself a little more than usual by attending local networking events and meeting other creatives based in the Nottingham area. Moving into quarter two I’m aiming to be more focused with the services I offer and will be looking to establish more of a dedicated brand for the freelancing side of my business.

Goals for Spring

Spring is just the best time to put new plans into motion isn’t it? Everyone has that extra sense of optimism that seems to come with the longer days and the lighter evenings so here’s a couple of things I’d love to achieve throughout the upcoming season:

Hit our next saving target and start seriously looking at houses

Book a much needed break for over my birthday in May

Do (another) wardrobe clear-out and aim to get a real handle on my personal style

Start working with local photographers to create more fashion content

Get a grip on my Pinterest strategy

Showcase more of the BTS of my life through Instagram stories and YouTube

How has the first quarter of the year been for you? Do you have any goals you’re going to be working on throughout Spring?
