Last weekend I hosted my very first Bumble Bizz event as Nottingham’s Queen Bee. Aimed at local bloggers the workshop was all about helping to create a buzz around your blog. As online creators we are constantly looking for ways to up our game and take our side hustles to the next level so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to focus a whole event on that very topic!
Hosted at the stunning Flour Mill Studio in Beeston, the venue was a bloggers dream what with the gorgeous white wooden floorboards, the high ceilings and the cute delicate fairy lights. Throw in a couple of gold foil balloons, some vibrant pinwheel decorations and a table full of sweets and you’ve got yourself the perfect setup for an abundance of Instagram photos!
Along with the totally dreamy setting I also wanted to deliver some really valuable content to the attendees, some of whom had travelled over an hour and a half to come along to the event. One of the main topics many bloggers seem to struggle with is SEO and I knew there was only one person to turn to to deliver an engaging workshop in that field. I enlisted the help of one of my favourite bloggers Holly to host a session on Growing Your Blog Like a Boss. The workshop touched on top tips to optimise your blog and how to create quality content to keep audiences coming back for more. Both Holly and I have received some amazing feedback since the event on how inspiring everyone found the session and how they couldn’t wait to get home and implement some of the advice they’d learnt!
As well as touching on the more technical side of blogging I also wanted to focus on some of the visual elements too so I roped in local portrait and lifestyle photographer Ryhs to come and share some of his top tips on upping your blog photography game. His workshop was totally relatable as he shared a behind-the-scenes look at how he constructs his stunning images using really accessible materials and natural lighting. I for one was super keen to put his tips into practice so watch out Instagram, you’re about to get inundated with flat lays!
The aim of the event was to empower the attendees to make the first move in their blogs and businesses which is something I think we definitely managed to achieve. An afternoon filled with practical and useful advice alongside networking with like-minded creatives is enough to get anyone feeling inspired and motivated! A big thank you again to our amazing guest-speakers and to everyone who came along. I already can’t wait for the next one!
