Whether you love it or hate it, there seems to be a heck of a lot written about Valentine’s Day this year but what will you be getting up to on the day dedicated to lurveeee?
For me, I tend to simply see Valentine’s Day as a bit of an excuse to celebrate. To pop a date in the diary with either your partner, friends or family and spend some time with the ones you love!
Adam and I are opting for a bit of a low key one this year, instead of heading out for a meal like we have done in the past we’ve decided to be a bit more money conscious and have a nice evening in. Once we’re back from work we’ll be filling the house full of candles and fairy lights, popping the Camembert in the oven and picking out a film to watch. These simple, chilled type of evenings are my absolute favourites. I love having our little indoor picnics with some of our favourite foods, sitting on the floor and just catching up. It’s not really about what you choose to do but instead spending quality time with your nearest and dearest.
We don’t really buy into the whole gift idea for Valentine’s Day either, instead just exchanging cards (this years is a real gud’un) and maybe a little novelty knock knack of some sort. This year I thought I’d whip up some sweet treats for the occasion, and opted for red velvet cupcakes. My icing skills aren’t exactly star baker level so I was pretty thankful to the guys over at Cake Angels for providing these cute little decorations to steal the spotlight. Sometimes small gestures can mean the most so we’ll be tucking into these beauties this evening for dessert!
